This past week I was able to meet up with an old friend. He happened to be the camp pastor at Youth Camp this week. We served in a church together over fifteen years ago. It was great to see him. What was even greater was hearing about how God was working in his life.
That is something that Christian brothers have – a connection that defies time and even different places in life. When I first went to college, I felt like I was disconnected from many people in my life. My then youth minister wrote me some words that meant a lot then and still prove true today: Christians have a connection that goes beyond time or geography. We are connected by Christ. Although we may have some catching up to do, we still connect because of Jesus. When we find an old friend that is still committed to Jesus, we know that we will still be able to connect because of Jesus.
Although there are many reasons to commit our lives to Jesus, that would have to be one of the coolest. In fact, much of Heaven may be just that – a reunion with people who gave their lives to Jesus just like we have. Can you imagine that? I can. I look forward to it.
Something to think about,
Pastor John
