Serving – The Lifeblood of the Church

This week we saw how the early church dealt with problems in the church.  They did not see those problems as insurmountable or annoyances.  Instead, they used the problems to expand their ministry.  It is the problem of the church that creates the first deacons.  They were seven men called on by the church to meet physical needs.  Meeting those needs showed the love of Christ in a tangible way.

What about us?  Do we make showing the love of Christ in a tangible way a priority?  Jesus  said, "A new command I give to you that you love one another as I have loved you.  By this shall all men know that you are my disciples if you love one another."  Do we seperate our relationship with Jesus from loving others?  It doesn’t seem to me that Jesus would want us to do that.

So, how do you serve others?  Do you reach out to people in need?  Do you see needs as opportunities to help or as inconveniences to avoid?

Something to think about,
Pastor John
