Seeker of Truth,
Today I want to talk about two passages of Scripture. Psalm 97:10 says, "You who love the LORD, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked." James 4:4 says, "Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God." I was thinking about loving God the other day and the Lord brought these two Scriptures into my path. I began to think about fence sitting. Have you ever done that? When you sit on a fence you aren’t in one yard or the other. Instead, you are between them. I think that is where we humans like to be. We like to think that there is a fence of indecision between God’s way and evil. Yet, the Bible teaches something different. It teaches that there is no fence. There is no line to stand on between the right and the evil.
My thoughts today are not about what constitutes right versus wrong. I am not interested today in telling anyone whether they are doing good or evil. The point today is this: if we say we love God, we must accept His view of the universe. If I am right, He says that there is no fence. He says that we have no line to stand on between His way and evil. If we love Him we will accept that and make decisions accordingly.
Something to think about,
Pastor John
