Giving Things Time

Impatience.  That is probably what destroys ministry and commitment more than any other thing.  I realize that without faith, there will be no ministry or commitment, but those with faith are distroyed by impatience.  Last time I talked about giving things time.  God’s Word says, "They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."  The difficulty there is the word "wait."  I don’t know how it was in the days of Elijah and Isaiah, but today everyone wants things fast, fast, fast.  The problem is that real life doesn’t happen that way.  I know, factories work fast and business is super fast with computers and the internet, but real life isn’t that fast.  Relationships that last need time.  Children need time.  Understanding life needs time.  Trusting God requires time.

I think that one of my biggest problems is rushing ahead of God and not letting the process work.  Take exercising for example.  I just started to exercise with my family.  Eventually, it should change the shape of my body and increase my energy level.  Right now?  I don’t value it very much because I can’t see anything happening.  In fact, I have asked one of my children to get me at 6:30 so that I will do it!

My encouragement today: Give God the time He wants to do great things in your life.  I don’t mean that you shouldn’t do things too.  Find the balance between running ahead of God and sitting on your faith and doing nothing.
